Participation in the Research Project for the Automated Value Stream Analysis based a Mobile Sensor Network

Until now, value streams have generally been analyzed manually. Identification of material and information flows at reduced-detail statistical levels has been exceptionally time intensive. The Bavarian Research Foundation (Bayerische Forschungsstiftung) spoke positively for the facilitation of a research project for the development of an Automated Value Stream Analysis System based on a Mobile Sensor Network. With a term of 2.5 years under the guidance of the Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composites and Processing Technologies (IGCV), the goal of this research project is the automated acquisition of material and information flows by means of appropriate identification systems. In this, data in existing systems such as MES, ERP and so on, should also be taken into consideration, as well as information in the production processes that will be acquired manually or by means of automated identification technologies like RFID. The thorough integration of all of this data and its collection into a tool represents a decisive additional value for the localization of activities that do not create value in the manufacturing process. The result will be an automated analysis of value streams (AutoVSA). The systems and procedures to be developed will be implemented as prototypes at the locations of participating research partners and will refer to and analyze real production systems. Participating partners include:
  • Fraunhofer IGCV, IIS und SCS
  • COSMINO AG
  • LIV tec GmbH
  • trilogIQa
  • F.X. Meiller Fahrzeug und Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG
  • Krones AG
